Introduced in 2001, the .NAME universal top-level domain name extension is the only one planned for personal websites only. These domain names can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other labels people are known by. At first, just 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you wanted to book john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already grabbed 3rd-level names remained operational.

You will have the opportunity to switch the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already registered domain to our firm if you take its EPP transfer key from the present registrar company and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. There are no particular rules on who can purchase a .NAME domain, but in order to keep the concept behind its establishment alive, the .NAME Registry organization may check who the owner is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration can be challenged.
